Chamundi Textiles (Silk Mills) Ltd. have been pioneers in silk fabric business since 1947 and are known in the market as specialist manufacturers and exporters of the best traditional Silk Fabrics. The company has built up over the past several years, a strong reputation as a reliable supplier of a premium range of Silk and Silk Blended Fabrics. Chamundi makes its range of premier silk fabrics, available in both the domestic, as well as the export markets under the brand name of "Chamundi Silks". Chamundi Silks has earned a reputation as a reliable supplier of premium silk fabrics for over 50 years. Chamundi Silks caters to the furnishing fabric markets, both globally and locally. Products include Jacquards, Taffetas, Dupions, Sheers, Damask, and Brocades, which are manufactured from pure silk, silk blends and natural fibers. Chamundi Silks also specializes in apparel fabrics, which include Bridal wear, Chiffons, Georgettes, Crepes and Yarn Dyed fabrics.

The Situation

Chamundi Textiles was experiencing rapid growth in its operations. Looking for a textile manufacturing specific ERP that could address multiple manufacturing types and grow with its business, Chamundi Textiles evaluated and invested in multiple ERPs. But all ERP players not being completely focused on textile industry, Chamundi Textiles ran into challenges with the incomplete solution, long implementation, extremely high cost, time constraints prevented a dedication to training. This lack of right ERP solution resulted in insufficient organizational change as employees still relied on their old ways and were not using the ERP to its fullest potential.

As a direct effect of not having the right ERP solution, Chamundi Textiles was conducting much of its business without using any ERP at all. There was entirely too much data being collected outside of the system and this extraneous, unneeded data was providing inaccurate information to personnel. This resulted in human error. Additionally, inventory control was exceedingly inaccurate and not a single employee could agree on the figures surrounding their on-hand inventory.

Driven by the need to eliminate its incorrect data, analyse productivity in real time, prevent huge margin loss, enhance production performance, Chamundi Textiles embarked to find the right ERP partner.

The Right ERP Partner

Chanmundi Textile Mills evaluated iTexClouds ERP. The discussion went for almost 15 days which included their understanding about our offering, our team to understand their current system, their process, gap analysis and deriving the right plan. After we got the go ahead from the management of Chamundi Textiles, the goals of the initial ERP plan began plainly: Conduct a pre-implementation audit of process to improve inventory management and maintain acceptable stocks in store. After the success of these two initial goals, we moved towards implementing other modules like production planning and control (PPC), Exports, Job work, Warehouse, purchase, sales etc.

Chamundi Textiles implementation have been supported by a daily meeting with all the participants in these efforts, as well as a weekly meeting with its management team. They also experienced a 75% decrease in the amount of inventory variance at its last month physical inventory compared to the previous two months physical inventories due to the significantly more accurate and reliable data that iTexClouds offers.

Before iTexClouds, Chamundi Textiles were not able to track their production costing. This resulted in management losing control over cost, wastage which resulted in low profit margins.
